At North Bellmore, writing is a cornerstone of our Literacy Framework, and we proudly implement Writing Workshop in grades K-6. Through this dynamic approach, students engage in diverse units of study that immerse them in three essential modes of writing: Narrative, Informational, and Opinion/Argument. Each unit is carefully designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and effective communication.
Our Writing Workshop model encourages students to explore writing through both structured lessons and independent practice. Additionally, writing is seamlessly integrated across content areas, allowing students to connect their skills in real-world contexts and express their ideas in science, social studies, and beyond. By providing varied opportunities for self-expression and academic growth, we equip students with the tools they need to become confident, passionate writers.
