Dear North Bellmore Families, Faculty, and Staff,

Good morning,

As reported at last evening's Board of Education meeting, we are disappointed and saddened to inform you that the Bellmore-Merrick Childcare Program (BMCCP) will no longer be operating in North Bellmore School District schools, effective at the end of the 2025–2026 school year. We were informed of this decision by June Smith, Director of the BMCCP.

The BMCCP has been a vital part of our schools for decades, providing dedicated, nurturing, and personalized care for our students before and after the school day. While the program operates independently and is not administered by the district, we have been pleased to provide space as a way of supporting the needs of our families.

We are especially grateful to Director June Smith and the BMCCP team for their decades of dedication and partnership. Their commitment to our students and community has been truly invaluable.

The district is actively exploring options for high-quality childcare providers to ensure continued before- and after-school care for the 2026–2027 school year and beyond. We will share updates with families as plans develop.
