Music Program Earns National Accolades

The North Bellmore School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education award from the NAMM Foundation, its first time receiving this designation. The recognition reflects the community’s commitment to music education.
The Best Communities for Music Education program celebrates school districts across the United States for their exemplary dedication in providing access to high-quality school music programs. This year, more than 1,000 school districts and schools have been recognized.
Recipients of the 2026 BCME awards were selected through a comprehensive application process that evaluates key indicators, including funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support. To uphold the program’s rigor and credibility, all applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.
North Bellmore’s program includes general music classes for students in grades K-6, as well as opportunities to join band, chorus and orchestra in grades 4-6. Music instruction is an integral part of the North Bellmore educational experience. The program includes the study of music history, cultural traditions and the fundamentals of music literacy, helping students to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the art form.
“This prestigious national designation reflects the dedication and talent of our students, the passion and expertise of our music educators, the strong support of our administrators, families and community, and the continued commitment of our board of education,” Superintendent Marie Testa said. “We are especially proud that this recognition highlights not only the strength of our programs, but also our shared belief in the importance of music education in fostering creativity, collaboration and personal growth in every child. Together, we will continue to ensure that music remains a vibrant and integral part of North Bellmore's core instructional program for our students.”
