Eight North Bellmore Educators Earn Tenure

It was a proud moment for eight educators in the North Bellmore School District as their names were read aloud at the board of education meeting on April 16. They were this year’s tenure recipients and the milestone was met with applause and cheers from an audience exceeding 100 people.
Superintendent Marie Testa said the eight newly tenured educators have demonstrated both a dedication to children and a commitment to their craft. She praised their growth during their probationary periods, noting that they are intellectual and reflective.
“In North Bellmore, tenure is a very important milestone not only for those receiving tenure, but for the board that is granting tenure,” Mrs. Testa said. “We take it very seriously in this district. The most important thing to us in North Bellmore is we have the best educators for the children that we love.”
JoAnn Signorelli, speaking on behalf of the North Bellmore Teachers Association, noted the impact they have already had, and will continue to have as their careers move forward in the district.
“A single teacher can inspire hundreds of students, who then go on to inspire thousands more,” she said.
Each educator was celebrated individually, with congratulatory remarks from administrators, colleagues, PTA members and students. This year’s tenure recipients are Erica Farley, art teacher; Olivia Gentilucci, social worker; Kristen Giris, Spanish teacher; Jacqueline Goode, English as a second language teacher; Chelsea Huttner, school psychologist; Nicole Huttner, elementary teacher; Alexa Laskowitz, elementary teacher; and Hayley Yackavage, elementary teacher.
