Martin Avenue Students Pen Their Planet-Saving Ideas

Anyone can make a difference, no matter how young they are, and second graders at Martin Avenue Elementary School in the North Bellmore School District are ready to do their part to help their planet.
With Earth Day coming up, second graders in Antonietta’s Fischetti class thought about the positive impact they could make on the environment. The class read “How the Crayons Saved the Earth” by Monica Sweeney, then brainstormed their own ideas. Children had thoughtful discussions about impactful and attainable ways they could help.
Each student completed a short writing piece with two ideas, such as picking up litter, recycling or using bikes instead of cars. They then colored a smiling Earth to attach to their writing.
