The North Bellmore School District welcomes Kevin McElroy as the new assistant principal of John G. Dinkelmeyer Elementary School. He started on July 1 and brings more than a decade of experience as a teacher and administrator.  

Mr. McElroy previously worked for the New York City Department of Education and spent 13 years at The Riverview School 277Q, a K-12 school dedicated to supporting students with special needs. Last year, he took on the role of assistant principal after previously serving as a physical education teacher and athletic director.   

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Springfield College in movement science, physical education and health education; a master’s degree in teaching students with disabilities from Touro College; and his administrative certification from the American College of Education. At Dinkelmeyer, he is eager to work alongside Principal Danica Brugge to support the needs of the faculty and staff, and build strong relationships with the approximately 430 students and their families.  

“I’m looking forward to being a part of a close-knit school community where families are really involved,” Mr. McElroy said. “I’m excited about getting to know the students and staff and being part of a school that has such a great reputation.”
