Saw Mill Sixth Graders Portray Ancient Gods and Goddesses

The gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece and Rome visited Saw Mill Road Elementary School on March 23, bringing the social studies curriculum to life.
The portrayal of figures from Greek and Roman mythology is an annual tradition for the sixth grade class. Each student selected one god or goddess from the Greek and Roman pantheons, dressed up and presented to the class. There were appearances from Apollo, Aphrodite, Athena, Poseidon, Zeus and more.
The young historians used knowledge from the social studies curriculum, which focuses on ancient civilizations, as well as books from the library and online sources. Each sixth grade had to prepare a two-minute speech, explaining why their particular god or goddess was famous. Many students livened their presentations up with musical entries and other creative elements.
