The Collegial Circle Program provides
teachers with structured time for reflection on professional
issues. Teachers take responsibility for identifying and satisfying
their needds for professional growth. A formal support process
is established for sharing expertise and for problem solving
through group processes. Inservice credit can be earned by
active participation and attendance.
Teachers may form groups of four to
eight members by agreed upon common interests and needs. Each
group must submit an application to the Teacher Center Policy
Board for approval.
Groups must plan to meet for fifteen
hours in sessions ranging from 1 to 2 1/2 hours each. A facilitator
must be selected who will be responsible for maintaining focus,
record keeping, and notifying group members of meeting dates. The
role of facilitator may be rotated however, a log of all sessions
will be kept by the facilitator including meeting dates, times,
attendance and summaries of topics discussed. An evaluation for each participant forwarded to the Teacher Center Policy Board is required upon the completion of the last session.
Resources such as books, videos, clerical
support and speakers can be funded by the Teacher Center.
Approximate costs must be included in the application.
