An End of the Year Message from….
Ms. Speidel
Principal
As the 2007-2008 school year comes to a close, it is important to reflect upon all of the special events and wonderful achievements that our students have experienced. Through your guidance, and the dedication of their teachers, each child has grown academically and socially, and our graduates are well prepared for the transition to middle school.
I would like to thank the Park Avenue PTA for making this year a special one for all the children. Through their efforts, and your support, the students have had the opportunity to participate in many cultural events and programs such as the National Circus Project and a wide variety of assemblies throughout the year. The PTA truly enriches each student’s elementary school experience, and I hope you will continue to support the PTA in any way you can next year.
Although the school year is over, it is important to remember that learning does not stop because it’s summer. Research shows that independent reading, even as little as twenty minutes per day will help students to maintain or increase reading achievement. As such, I encourage you to visit the North Bellmore Schools’ website (www.northbellmoreschools.org). Click on Summer Reading List Available! to access links to Scholastic’s Summer Reading Buzz and the NYS Summer Reading Program, “Catch the Buzz@Your Public Library,” as well as a suggested reading list for each elementary grade. Please encourage your child to continue reading and learning throughout the summer.
As my first year at Park Avenue ends, I would like to thank you for your support throughout the year. Both you and your children have made me happy, and proud to be part of this warm, nurturing and challenging community. I look forward to a wonderful 2008-2009 school year. Please note that the first day of school is Wednesday, September 3, 2008 .
On behalf of the Park Avenue Faculty and Staff, I wish your family all the pleasures of summer. Be safe. Have fun…and we’ll see you along the way!
