**Celebrate RED RIBBON WEEK
Monday, January 23rd- Friday, January 27^th

 Help Saw Mill students pledge to be drug free and say “Peace Out to Drugs!”

MONDAY, January 23rd: Wear GREEN! I can keep my mind and Earth clean.

TUESDAY, January 24th: Be a “SMARTIE”: Don’t do drugs! The children will receive Smartie candy.

WEDNESDAY, January 25th: Wear JEANS!  I am a “Jeanius” because I am Drug Free!

THURSDAY, January 26th: Wear your SCHOOL COLORS! Show your school spirit when the children attend the “Simon Sez” assembly.

FRIDAY, January 27th: Wear RED! The children will sign a banner pledging to be Drug Free! The children will receive a bookmark, pencil, eraser, and red ribbon in a package from their teachers to symbolize their pledge!

**January 25, 2012: Family Reading Night 6:30PM in the APR. You need to sign up in advance for this event. A flyer will be sent home with your child.

**January 31, 2012:  Parents for Megan’s Law Presentation 7PM in the APR.

“Apple of My Eye 1” A child sexual abuse prevention program for parents/adults.

**February 1, 2012: Club, Faculty, Board and 6^th grade formal graduation pictures will be taken.

**February 10, 2012: Family Fitness Night 6:30PM in APR. You need to sign up in advance for this event. A flyer will be sent home with your child.

**February 14, 2012: Annual Valentine’s Day Cupcake Sale

**February 28, 2012 is our monthly PTA meeting in the All Purpose Room at 7:30PM. It is also our annual BLOOD DRIVEfrom 3PM to 8PM.

On Tuesday, November 15^th, our students will be treated to an assembly titled “Big Ideas About Appreciation and Gratitude” by Patricia Shih, a singer-songwriter from Huntington.  In conjunction with the assembly, Saw Mill Road students and faculty are asked to donate non-perishable food items to benefit Long Island Cares, Inc. This organization was started by singer-songwriter Harry Chapin to combat hunger on Long Island. Students are asked to bring their donations to school on Friday, November 18^th, which is the date of the Volleyball All-Star Game.  This will be a fun game involving the faculty and the 6^th grade students with all the Saw Mill students cheering everyone on!

Friday, November 18^th is our Family Movie Night featuring the movie Cars 2 at 6:30 pm. Please get your tickets and join us for a fun family evening!

Saw Mill PTA Update

Picture Retake Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25^th.

On October 26^th, the children will be enjoying a Halloween Laser Spooktacular Assembly in the APR sponsored by the PTA.

The Halloween Carnival is scheduled for Monday, October 31^st. 

Gift Wrap Distribution will be on Open School Day which is Friday, November 4^th.  You can pick up your items on the second floor in the PTA closet.

Stop and Shop A+ School Rewards runs from October 7, 2011 thru March 29, 2012.  Our school can earn cash through this rewards program.  Please register your Stop and Shop card online at www.stopandshop.com/aplus or dial 1-877-275-2758 .  Remember if you registered last year you must do it again to participate.

Registering your Target credit card through their Take Charge of Education program is also another great way to raise money for our school.  You can register online or you can call 1800-316-6142

The CEEO meetings are scheduled at SawMillRoadSchoolat 7PM.  The dates are as follows: October 27^th, November 16^th, December 5th and December 15^th.

Our McTeacher’s Fundraiser on October 18^th was a great success!  We would like to thank everyone who participated!     

Our next PTA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 29^th at 7:30 PM in the APR.
